Well sorry it is a day late, but here's the synopsis!!
It was pretty slow on Thursday morning, just ironing out the last of the details. We finally bean making TV at about 2 pm. All of the traveling press swarmed this room in about 5 mins, turning it from a quiet workplace to a beehive of activity.
It has been interesting for me because its the first time I have split my encoders from my amps, pushing 70mHz about 200 feet. Scotty helped me access, raising the amp gain per instruction over a PL panel. Once up we had a few issues, mostly solved by repeaking the dish about an iota...resulting in only needing 40 watts instead of 135!
The funny part of my day came later when I went upstairs to routinely check my amp temps and was met by two unhappy members of the Trinidad military! Im glad I wasn't shot because I apparently startled them pretty bad. I had a short inquest, then an armed escort to the dish to prove who I was and why I had to be there, etc. They seemed to be on a little higher alert than normal because the Canadian Prime Minister was here in our workroom doing a talkback for ABC.
The day wound down for me, ending around 7pm for an easy 8hr day. It is now 5:40am, I started at 5am which is the beginning of my 12hr shift rotation. If you see me on FB, Skype, or Gmail feel free to hit me up!!
Later!!
